Offshoots of self-oscillating regimes in a supersonic boundary layer

In the framework of the weakly nonlinear stability theory a soft and rigid generation of periodic oscillations in a supersonic boundary layer is studied at moderate and high Mach numbers (M = 2 and M = 5.35). The model includes effects of self-action (generation of stationary secondary harmonics and generation of double frequency disturbances). It is shown that within the framework of this model, regions of pre and supercritical growth appear on the branches of neutral curves. The effects are directly related to the effect of compressibility.
