Characteristics of the interfacial layer in an environment of polymer composites with nanosized filler

Considered heterogeneous material consisting of three phases: the matrix, the filler and the interphase layer with special properties. A model for determining the modulus of heterogeneous material, taking into account the third phase, which lies between the filler and the matrix. Using the free energy equation derived formula for calculating the thickness of the interphase layer, which depends on the glass transition temperature of the matrix and surface tension. Using experimental data for polymeric composite materials with nano-fillers, the dependence of the elastic modulus of the interfacial layer of filler concentration, calculated the thickness of the interfacial layer. It is shown that the degree of influence of the interfacial layer on the mechanical properties of the composite material will depend on the properties and the concentration of filler in the binder. On the basis of experimental data for a series of composite material based on epoxy resin DER-330 silicon dioxide nanopowder and A-380, obtained elastic modulus of the interphase layer and its thickness depending on the filler concentration.
